Litters

Little Bit Country is proud to announce our spring 2022 litter! Springbrooke's Piper Girl (Piper) x CH HHC Get R Done (Larry)
Larry is a BIS winner, CKC/ASDR/NSDR/MASCA/IMASC registered beautiful tri male. He has produced many conformation and working champion pups over his 12 1/2 years. We are very proud to have been allowed to breed to this gorgeous male. Both Piper and Larry have genetic testing available, and Larry is OFA Hips Excellent, and OFA Eyes & Elbows Good. Both Piper and Larry measure 19" and we are expecting pups between 18-20" medium sized.
We have 8 beautiful babies born May 19th - 3 boys and 5 girls! See pics below :) We have some availability, if you are interested in these pups or if you are interested in being added to our waitlist for a future litter, please fill out our Puppy Questionnaire and return it to us at info@littlebitcountry.ca

Here at LBC, we want all of our quality puppies to go to loving homes, where they will be lifelong companions to work, play, and be loyal family members. We want you to do your research on Australian Shepherds and ensure that this is the type of dog that will fit into your lifestyle, living accommodations and family. Herding breeds, especially Aussies, have very different temperaments than most other dogs. We want all of our families to be confident that this is the breed for you!

We recommend you do not spay or neuter your Aussie until 12 months of age, at which time their growth plates have closed. Please consult with your vet on this. Puppies need hormones for proper growth. Given this timing, prior to the 'fix' your female will require your close attention through one season and a doggy diaper is helpful; your intact male 'may' begin to mark, mount and roam. All of this is perfectly normal, just be aware. Belly bands can be helpful for males, you can discuss this with your vet.

Size info:

Mini Aussies will measure 14-18" at the shoulders.

Standards should be 18-21"for females, 20-23"for males. The majority of our pups will mature between 17" and 19", and about 30-45Lbs (large mini/small standard) with the odd pup a bit smaller or larger.

Colours:

Everyone seems to want the merle pattern, red or blue, and of course blue eyes. The rarest is a bi-colour with blue eyes (only two colours). Colour is unpredictable, and not something we would ever guarantee, nor would we intentionally breed for. However, your preferences are important to us. So let us know if you are willing to wait for that perfect colour preference that matches your family’s particular needs. We will always put our emphasis on sound pups with good temperaments but will work with you to ensure your happiness. Remember, pups should be chosen based on temperament not cosmetics 😊

Our pups are born and raised in our home. They are a part of our family and will be raised as such. We do not dock tails nor remove dew claws. Our pups are either ASDR or CKC registered and health & temperament tested. Once pups are born and our families have been selected, we will accept deposits on pups. Deposits are $500 and are non-refundable but transferrable to future littes. Although we want to know your potential coat colour interest (merle or tri etc), we will not designate pups to their individual families until they are a bit older. At about 5-6 weeks of age we will have a better idea of their individual personalities and temperaments, as well as maturity size and eye colour. At 7 weeks we will have them temperament tested and at this time we will let each of our families know which pup(s) we think will be a good match for them (in the order deposits were received). This does not mean that your requests will not be adhered to, it just means that we will be aligning pups to families based on temperament/drive not necessarily colour. So if your family wants a low-drive blue merle, but we have a very high-drive blue merle, we will want to arrange for a different pup for your family to better suit your needs. Occasionally we may be able to guestimate temperament just by the mating, ex: low and medium drive pairs are unlikely to produce high energy pups. But 2 blue eyed parents can produce brown eyed dogs, and vice-versa!

Visits and Updates:

All puppy families will receive weekly updates, with photos and fun info. Then at around 6 weeks of age, we will have a puppy open house at our home. All families will be invited to a day of puppy fun! You will meet all of our pups and we will begin the process of fitting our pups to the right families. It’s always a bit scary to allow visits from families while pups are young. We want to protect our pups from any disease or parasitic contagion being unknowingly brought to our home. And for this reason, we respectfully require that you visit our puppies only if it has been at least 7 days since visiting any other kennels, SPCA, dog parks, vet’s office etc. Your potential new puppy will be highly vulnerable at this time, so we will require strict adherence to this request.

When you come to the puppy open house, we will discuss grooming care and give you a list of recommended items to purchase to help ensure your pup is well cared for. We will update our website every week, and post puppy photos on our FaceBook page for families to follow.

*** Our pups will come with Trupanion pet insurance coverage for 30 days, and a discount for puppy training classes with Kayenna Training Academy in Calgary. We HIGHLY recommend puppy training for all of our puppies to ensure they receive the best possible start to a long and happy life with their furever families! ***
